TEENS MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY
Teens Make A Difference Day in LA County is part of the national Make a Difference Day. This countywide program to encourage teens to plan and implement one-time or on-going self-initiated volunteer and community service projects in their community. Shared projects that involve collaboration by teens from different communities or organizations are especially encouraged in order to strengthen and improve intergroup relations and understanding among and between teens from different areas of the county, consistent with the Commission on Human Relations mission and it's zerohour: No Haters Here! youth initiative.
The L.A. County Commission on Human Relations is a sponsor and principal coordinator of Teens Make A Difference Day 2007, along with ConnectLA, a non-profit organization committed to bringing diverse communities and sectors together through shared projects and by sharing resources and expertise, and L.A. City Department of Recreation and Parks. Partners include partnership with Poseidon School, Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce, LA Unified School District Beyond the Bell Branch, and the LA Conservation Corps Clean and Green Program.
"Significantly increase the number of teens and community service projects in 2008 from the 100 + projects and over 3,000 youth who participated in 2006 and 2007 and also expand awareness of the Commission on Human Relation's zerohour youth initiative and No Haters Here! campaign.
